    Information on Programs Offered:

    IntelliTec Medical Institute's Dental Assistant program is designed to give graduates the skills and knowledge they'll need to become part of a dental team. Students are exposed to a number of modern dental materials and techniques and learn through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical, hands-on experience. The program is one of the few dental assisting programs in the state that is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. This accreditation encompasses higher standards of quality in the curriculum and instructional delivery of the Dental Assistant program. All instructors are required to be Certified Dental Assistants, and strict education requirements are imposed. This course also includes a 300-hour externship, providing students with the opportunity to practice their skills in a real-world setting in the local Colorado Springs area.

    The Dental Assistant program includes:
    • The history of dentistry
    • Dental science
    • Dental specialties
    • Dental materials
    • Dental radiology
    • Preventative and emergency procedures
    • Dental office management
    • Chairside assisting skills (basic and intermediate)
    Students also have the opportunity to perform a number of dental tasks, such as exposing and developing dental radiographs, taking impressions, pouring and trimming models, instrument and procedural set-ups, patient management, and the sterilization and disinfection of equipment.

    Graduates of the program graduate with a professional certificate as a Dental Assistant and are eligible to immediately sit for the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) and become Certified Dental Assistants (CDA). This certification is recognized nationwide. Graduates are also certified by the State of Colorado in Dental Radiology and obtain a certification in CPR.

Students interested in further education may wish to consider taking our Dental Assistant course or learning about our Medical Assistant training.The Expanded Duty Dental Assistant program is a 40-hour certificate course. Classes are scheduled at various times throughout the year. Classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The class sizes are limited to six students in order to provide a one-on-one learning environment. Since this in an accelerated course, we want to provide the students with the best learning environment.

    Requirements for Completion: Students must attend and participate in all sessions and successfully complete a written exam and the clinical proficiency exam. The student's proficiency exam will include both composite resin and amalgam posterior restorations, anterior composite resin restorations, and cavity prep isolation.

    Upon successful completion of the course, the student will have the skills and the knowledge to assume responsibility in restorative procedures for patients under the supervision of a dentist.
    Graduates will be able to describe and identify:
    • Caries and cavity classifications
    • Tooth morphology
    • Cavity preparations
    • Properties of amalgam
    Lab work will consist of placement of bases and liners, etching, bonding, composite resin, and amalgam utilizing two- and four-handed dentistry. Students will also be able to carve and finish restorations.

    This program is designed to teach students the skills they need to become massage therapists. Upon completion of this program, students will graduate with an Associate of Occupational Studies degree and are considered Certified Massage Therapists. Shortly thereafter, graduates are eligible to sit for the Colorado Springs City Licensing Exam and the National Certification Exam.

    Whether you're interested in starting your own private practice or obtaining work at a health spa, cruise ship or with a medical team, you'll learn basic anatomy and physiology, a number of different massage techniques, business development, professional standards and ethics, musculoskeletal anatomy, and stress management techniques.

    Learn such massage techniques as:

    • Swedish massage
    • Sports massage
    • Deep tissue application
    • Prenatal and infant massage
    • Reflexology
    • Shiatsu
    • Hot stone massage
    • Neuromuscular therapy (NMT)
    Students will receive massage table packages that will allow them to practice during their time at IntelliTec Medical Institute. They can keep these after graduation to begin their careers as massage therapists.

    Massage therapy can be a wonderful aid in relieving stress and providing a better quality of life. It can also help those who suffer from sports injuries or chronic pain. Students of IntelliTec Medical Institute’s Massage Therapist program will receive a thorough grounding in massage techniques and the opportunity to practice in the Student Massage Clinic with a variety of clientele. If you’re interested in becoming a massage therapist, our school may be the right choice for you!A medical administrative assistant generally works in the front office of a medical or dental facility. Our Medical Administrative Assistant program can prepare you for a healthcare career by teaching you to:
    • Edit and format transcriptions
    • Interpret documentation into alphanumeric form through correct coding
    • Utilize various medical software
    • Code from ICD-9-CM, CPT-4 and ADA codes
    In addition, you’ll take courses in basic anatomy and physiology, medical office procedures, medical law and ethics, and computer applications. You’ll also take medical billing and coding classes, providing you with valuable knowledge for working with insurance companies, hospitals, pharmacies and doctors’ offices. This program also contains an externship in the local Colorado Springs area, where you have the opportunity to put your skills to work in a real-world situation.

    The Medical Administrative Assistant program results in an Associate of Occupational Studies degree. Students are required to take the medical administrative assistant competency exam, and graduates are eligible to sit for the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant certifications from the National Healthcare Association (NHA). Students are also eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Transcriptionists exam from NHA.

    IntelliTec Medical Institute’s Medical Assistant program is designed for students interested in a healthcare career where they work directly with patients. Graduates of the program should have the entry-level skills necessary to become medical assistants and work in all areas of a modern medical facility, particularly areas involved with patient care. Graduates are eligible to sit for the American Medical Technologist National Registry exam in order to become registered medical assistants.     If you're interested in a healthcare career and are detail-oriented and organized, then you should consider Medical Laboratory Technician training! IntelliTec Medical Institute can prepare you with a combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice. You'll learn a number of common medical laboratory testing procedures; how to prepare, store and transport samples; and how to document results.

    Quality control and quality assurance are vital to a successful medical laboratory technician career, and our Colorado Springs classroom is maintained like a working medical laboratory, with an emphasis on safety, OSHA standards, universal precautions and personal protective equipment. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to take a national registry examination through the American Medical Technologists (AMT), which, if successfully completed, will designate you as a medical laboratory technician.

    Not only is the medical field is advancing, so is the program itself. We have a wide variety of equipment that is used in the field, including an up-to-date digital microscope.

    IntelliTec Medical Institute offers both day and evening classes for the Medical Laboratory Technician program, which results in an Associate of Applied Science degree.
