    NAU has 11 other campus locations throughout South Dakota, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico, all of which are primarily the working adult model, though in today's changing business environment, younger students are becoming more and more interested in this type of campus.

    Nursing is a career that is in great demand; makes a difference in peoples' lives 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and offers opportunities in multiple settings with individuals, families and communities. National American University's Associate of Science in Nursing program is an excellent program for those of you who have a serious desire to help people in need of medical care. As a graduate of this program, you may be able to continue on for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, although that is not guaranteed.

    All applicants to National American University-Zona Rosa Campus are hereby notified that the Missouri State Board of Nursing may refuse to issue a license for specific reasons related to moral depravity, inordinate use of alcohol or drugs, or conviction of a crime.

    The Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting provides specialized education for various entry-level positions in the accounting profession. It is designed for easy transfer into the bachelor’s degree in accounting. Graduates of this program can expect to find employment as accounting technicians, payroll clerks, bookkeepers, or clerical assistants in business, government or non-profit organizations. With experience, graduates may qualify for more advanced positions, such as payroll supervisor, lead accountant or tax specialist.National American University’s Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree program is designed to provide students with the preparation needed to sit for the certified managerial accounting (CMA) exam as well as the certified public accountant (CPA) exam in those states not requiring the fifth year of education. Students plan to taking the exam in these states will take the CPA review courses as part of their undergraduate degree. Graduates of the accounting program will find many opportunities as private accountants for corporations, partnerships, sole proprietorships, government agencies and non-profit organizations. They may also find opportunities to secure positions leading to executive management in large corporations. This program of study prepares graduates for various entry-level positions in the information system field with a balanced overview of technology in the major core. Students are encouraged to work with their advisors to design a program in their area of interest and their technology-related certifications, which may be in Microsoft networking, Cisco networking, or other technical disciplines. Graduates may qualify for positions such as network administrators, network engineers, or other technical positions.NAU’s Applied Information Technology program is an excellent bachelor’s degree program for students with an interest or background in technology, whether work-related or academic. This program prepares students well for today’s technology-based careers, with relevant instruction in all aspects of personal computing including: multimedia telecommunications, technical writing, end-user information systems, troubleshooting, and hardware maintenance.

    The Associate of Applied Science degree in Applied Management is designed to meet the needs of individuals who have acquired occupationally-related training at community colleges, technical institutes, military service schools, or industry-related schools in business, health, or a technical field.

Upon completion of this degree, students may apply most of the course work toward a four-year degree at National American University. The number of credits applicable toward the four-year degree will depend on the program selected.The Health and Beauty Management program prepares the licensed cosmetologist to own or operate a beauty parlor, salon or spa or to manage his or her own booth. This degree is designed for individuals who have earned a cosmetology certificate or diploma and have successfully passed their state board of cosmetology exam. A maximum of 60 quarter credit hours from a cosmetology certificate or diploma program is required to transfer into the health and beauty vocational core. Students are able to add business skills to their industry knowledge and experiences through a performance-based curriculum that includes studies in management, marketing, communication, and career management. This program is an excellent option for students who wish to pursue a management career or become an entrepreneur in the health and beauty sector.

    The Health Care Management degree completion program is designed to provide working professionals with the necessary skills to become effective managers and leaders in the fast growing health care industry.     NAU’s Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Information Technology (HIT) is an excellent career choice if you see yourself working in the in-demand health care field, but not directly with patients. As a graduate of this program, it may be your job to verify the completeness and accuracy of medical records and data entry into computer systems to ensure medical record quality; to use technology to analyze for quality and efficiency of patient care; to code patient diagnoses and procedures for research or reimbursement purposes; or to work in specialized registries that maintain data for medical research. NAU is currently pursuing program accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) to allow graduates of the HIT program to be eligible to take the certification examination offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) to become a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).NAU’s diploma program in Healthcare Coding is an excellent career choice if you see yourself working in the in-demand health care field but not directly with patients. The medical administrative assistant degree program is designed to prepare students for entry-level administrative positions in a variety of health care settings. Administrative duties may include greeting patients, setting appointment times, scheduling hospital admissions, medical transcription, medical record management, insurance coding and billing, bill collections, office compliance and other general medical office procedures. The medical administrative assistant program utilizes a combination of lecture and laboratory sessions to address both administrative and general topics, as well as an externship following completion of other required course work. Students in the program must complete all professional courses in the curriculum with a minimum "C" grade. The medical assistant performs administrative and clinical duties in a physician's office or other outpatient care settings within the scope of specific training and state law, and in accordance with assignments by a physician. Administrative duties may include patient scheduling, receptionist duties, medical record management, medical transcription, office correspondence, medical insurance procedures and office accounts, fees and collections. Clinical duties may include interviewing and teaching patients, taking vital signs, preparing patients for examination and assisting the physician during the exam, performing routine laboratory testing, sterilizing instruments and equipment, and administering medications. A medical assistant with sufficient training and experience may become responsible for office management. The medical assisting program utilizes a combination of lecture and laboratory sessions, as well as an externship following completion of other required course work. Students are required to obtain a Hepatitis B vaccination prior to enrolling in the clinical science lab and laboratory techniques courses. In addition, they must complete a physical examination and tuberculosis testing prior to externship.
